Diabolik, the King of Terror of Italian comics, was created by two sisters from Milan's upper crust: Angela and Luciana Giussani. Starting in the early 60's, they not only broke all the accepted rules for action heroes, but also faced numerous censorship charges for showing a criminal in a positive light. Undaunted, the sisters forge ahead with their groundbreaking stories, paying close attention to current issues and taking sides, as when they recommended that their readers vote "no" in a 1974 referendum to make divorce legal.
