Laura and Piero, a married couple of physicians, move to Africa to work in a hospital there. But when Piero has to return to Italy on account of an emergency, Laura begins drawing ever closer to the hospital director, Jan Hansen. Before it’s too late, she also returns home hoping to revive her marriage. But just as she is about to tell her husband, she learns of Jan’s death.
