A story set in the 1950’s in Palermo, where Giovanni and Paolo, with help from other friends, set out to free their city and its people from the evil force that, once they lose their souls to the wizard Nivuru, turns them cynical and violent. The intriguing story contains a delicate metaphor pertinent to the issue of the Mafia, as well as other ‘controversial’ topics, such as silent complicity and bullying. I
n the end, the solidarity and fellow-feeling of the group pays off, as was the case for the anti-Mafa pool: Giovanni and Paolo free the souls of their fellow citizens and celebrate the Feast of Santa Rosalia as full-fledged heroes.
