Mario is a forty year-old truck driver with a loving life, adaughter and a tiny foundation of wellbeing built up day by day. But his trucking company has to bend the rules to keep up with the competition. One day Vittorio, a friend of Mario’s, is paralysed in an accident not covered by the owner’s insurance. Rather than keep quiet and protect their jobs, Mario and some of the other truckers, with the help of Mario’s younger brother, a lawyer, make trouble. The owner moves his business abroad, and they lose their jobs. But in the end their friend wins his damages suit and buys the “Paradise Carwash”, where all the friends, who already consider themselves the last in line for Paradise, can work together. But Mario has been burned by the recent string of events. He finds himself separated from his wife, fearful of one day seeing his money run out again. And so he agrees to work for his old boss, taking jobs that involve unregulated shortcuts...
