Paola is perfectly happy in her role as wife and mother, until her own mother falls ill and she meets Giulio, a brilliant surgeon. The two try to resist, but they fall madly in love. Not only does the couple have to deal with the hurt, angry reactions of those dear to them, but they are also accused of being the “diabolic lovers” behind a double murder. Though Paola, her husband Marco and her lover Giulio risk losing everything, it is only after going through this experience that they are able to fully understand the meaning of words such as love, passion, betrayal and forgiveness.
