Code: 019871

"24 February 1607 proved indeed “a happy and auspicious day”: it marked the premiere of Claudio Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo in the Ducal Palace in Mantua. It was the birth of a masterpiece and also the birth of opera as an art form.
For this brand new production, Italian early music specialist Rinaldo Alessandrini unites with director Robert Wilson, who has drawn inspiration for his staging from a famous painting by Titian.
