Valentina travels a lot for work, both in Italy and abroad and lost daily contact with Sicilian reality so that her ideas are a little bit old-fashioned. She looks like one of those emigrants that returns home after a lot of years. Her understanding is that nothing changed but her old land is not the same anymore.
Agata is a marvellous cook and she keeps up with the best Sicilian traditions but sometimes she adds a touch of her own personality and a hint of modernity. So, while frying and stirring sauces, stories and tasty chat come up, not only about the recipes but also history and traditions of the island.
And Sicily comes inwith its landscapes, typical places and surprises. You can find themat themarket to buy fish, in the kitchen garden to choose vegetables, inside historic wine cantinas to visit splendid temples of taste. They don’t miss to visit also the “Palatine Chapel” or the modern shopping centre in Catania.
“Baglio” is always open for friends and very often two women receive “interested” visits. The Farm manager, a neighbor, Valentina’s friend: all want to try the tasty dishes of Agata. But they can’t without completing their very own quest: first of all they will wear the apron and help Agata during “la préparation”.
