Baron Lalumera dies a ripe old age and all his relatives hope for a rich inheritance. His will has only one heir which puts the rest pf the family into confusion. They all agree to protest the will and to divide the inheritance in equal parts. Baron Leopoldo takes a fancy to a Danish girl and leaves his cousin Mariantonia after having been engaged to her for 10 years. To get even with him, she refuses to sign the agreement for the division of the inheritance. Leopoldo's jelous temperament provokes a series of mishaps which make the Danish girl decide to go away; Leopoldo gives in to his parents and marries Mariantonia.
