A fan of the Olympic games (the film is set in 1960), living in a small town in Calabria, a boy challenges his father’s fury and runs day-in and day-out since he is keen on footraces. The “adults” want him to continue in the family’s sheep-rearing business, but the boy manages to make it in the end. Thanks to his passion he wins a local race and so is offered the chance to go to Rome, to become part of a real athletic team. The story is based on the biography of the champion athlete Francesco Panetta.
