Paul VI was the first Pope to fly to all the continents of the world. He was the first Pope to return to the Holy Land, and the first Pope to embrace the Greek Orthodox Patriarch. He completed the Vatican Council that had been a goal of his predecessor and spoke to the world with encyclicals on social and justice and love.
He was a man of dialogue and discussion, of faith and freedom. He even reached out to the Red Brigade terrorists, attempting to save the life of Aldo Moro.
