Brunatto's film takes a searching look at the reasons for and motivations behind the "shift to the East, and towards Tibetan spirituality in particular," which has involved/animated a large part of the Western world. Spotlighting Bertolucci's film “Little Buddha” means spotlighting the Buddha: his teachings, and his reincarnations. It's a showcase for the "maestro's" work, replete with interviews with the Dalai Lama, Lama Choegyal Namkhai Norbu, the actor and sex-symbol Keanu Reeves, and former minister of the People's Republic of China, Ying Ruo Gheng; interviews with Bridget Fonda and Bertolucci himself.
